Major: Electrical Engineering (This Major's Salary over time)
Purdue's engineering programs seem to strike a proper balance between teaching and self motivated learning. I appreciate the fact that for any given assignment there are numerous correct and professor accepted ways of solving it. The professors are very friendly and willing to help students outside of class. All of my professors (and TAs) have spoken perfectly understandable English. The general attitude of the student body is pretty arrogant and close-minded. Not the most tolerant school. I'm from the Midwest, and although I knew Indiana was more conservative than where I am from (and Purdue is an engineering school to boot) it still came as a great shock how unaccepting many in the community truly are. A lot of the students are just rude, nothing like my experiences at other universities. The "Greater Lafayette" area leaves much to be desired. Very little of interest comes through the area even with the huge potential draw of students. There isn't much to do within walking distance of campus aside from a few places and the roads here are so poorly designed and implemented that an intoxicated incompetant half-dead-of-multiple-stab-wounds monkey with a cement mixer could have done a better job. But if you are choosing Purdue for its social activities you should know better. Go for engineering, stay for engineering, or spend your money elsewhere.
