Hurt me: deep abuse, backstabbing, I am now hiring and don't have any pool of people I know to ask, because UVa engineering students are all supersexist men who ask you to do their homework and critique their resumes, but then admit that they would never promote or hire a women and act like it too; constantly try to demolish your self-esteem or they act like you don't exist. In industry I have worked with people from other schools and found the level of workmanship, quality, and intellect is light-years above the UVa students. The UVa students are more arrogant, deceitful and their products lack substance.

I should have known/done not to go at all; I would have done better straight out of high school working until I earned enough money to go elsewhere.

Do not under any circumstance go to this engineering school. Even if you are not a woman. However… If you are a Southern valedictorian male from a small town noone has ever heard of; if you are popular, but not well-liked (i.e., you win high school elections freshman year, but some "loser" wins every subsequent year); you think the world revolves around you, you have no problem being an a$ and use it to make up for your lack of natural intellect; if you are a first-born who uses tactics of demolishing your younger siblings self-esteem and physical dominance behind your parents' back to be the "Sucessful one"; if you think you are cool/popular (but NOT well-liked) or one of the beautiful people; if you think new jeans are comfy, beer tastes good, and pantene is a great shampoo (although you should wear Abercrombie and Fitch); if you are white and happy about it, not to mention politically incorrect; if you are a pretty package but empty inside (this is the only school I've heard of with a spot for your photo on the application); if you think image and presentation are more important than content; if you thrive on competition in the sense of kicking others down, rather than building your own self up; if you are freaked out to death of not fitting in and think it okay to be mean to others for not being superconformist; if you have no interest in learning new ideas; if you think you are the greatest even if you have known 20 other people your age in your whole life; if alcohol is your way of dealing with problems; if you have no character, integrity, and smart people shouldn't trust you; if you don't think twice about dissing a friend over something like having to open the miniblinds; if you are tall and don't have a problem blackmailing people smaller than you; if you think hazing someone in front of a significant other is the same as in front of the guys… then THIS SCHOOL IS FOR YOU!!!!!! Just don't apply to the engineering school for computer science, apply to the liberal arts college and go cognative science with a concentration in computer science. Then you can get more research and less weed-out courses. The teachers here care 99% research and 1% teaching because that sets their salaries.
