I have very mixed feelings about Penn. My main reason for coming here was to meet interesting people, and for the most part I was let down. A lot (but not as many as I had expected) of the people here are intelligent, but so many are basically "drones" who only worry about work, success, and money. Even with all the people, it was hard to find a group of friends that were really fun to be around. As for the social scene, if you like drinking, this is the place for you. If not, there are other activities but you have to look carefully to find them. And yes, the Japs are worse than you might think… I'm sure this environment would appeal to a lot of people, but if you're not sure it's for you, keep looking. On a brighter note, I have nothing but praise for the faculty and academics here. No doubt this is a very good school… but I plan to finish my major and graduate a year early. I don't know if I'll miss it much.
