Major: Mechanical Engineering (This Major's Salary over time)
I can't say I'm unhappy with my college decision, but I can't say that I'm completely satisfied. Classes are larger than high school (this I expected), but many of the students in the classes are not as bright as I had expected. It is not uncommon for a professor to have to repeat themselves several times before a student "understands." I use quotes because it has become very clear that the majority of students never do understand what they are learning in the first place. Exam averages are suprisingly low, and professors rampantly curve in order to ensure that the proper number of students pass their course, regardless of their ability to understand and use the material. Now, you need to understand that this is not always a bad thing (like when you hate the course, and don't feel like going to class or paying attention) because it is pretty hard to fail a class. As for the social life, its not too bad. The university has recently recieved a large sum of money to stop under aged drinking. This really puts the social scene in a bad possition, as many college activities involve drinking, regardless of age. Delaware tries to make up for this by scheduling booze free social events, which are pretty sad. Besides this, Newark as a town has several restaurants, bars, and clubs that are a good time.
