What an utter waste of time.Quite BrightPsychology
What an utter waste of time. The quality of education is terrible, the student housing is abyssmal, the food is wretched, clubs and organizations are non-existent, the academic facilities are in miserable condition, the students are mostly dumb and rich, with a few anti-social international students thrown in (the much touted "diversity" is a myth: American and international students barely ever interact at all), and the poor reputation prevents anyone from going on to a good law, med or grad school (not that many students at OWU are inclined to go on anyway). All in all, a very poor school -- stay away!!!!

Question
I attended OWU for one year before transferringSuper BrilliantPreMed and Medical
I attended OWU for one year before transferring out, so I can confirm that OWU provides a remarkably low-quality education. The majority of students are not too bright (but very affluent) and have little interest in challenging coursework. The greek scene is huge and binge drinking and drug use are rampant. The professors water-down information and spoon-feed their students, lowering everything to the lowest intellectual common denominator (and believe me, at OWU that's very low). I was amazed that some of the people there even got accepted...though I shouldn't have been; OWU's staggeringly high acceptance rate allows in people who couldn't even get into Ohio State. I would be very suspicious of claims that people from OWU can go onto Harvard -- most people I met there were more interested in drinking than grad school. Also, if you look at the backgrounds of the professors, you won't see many who got their doctorates from presigious schools. Second-rate faculty teaching third-rate students -- ugh! Please do not go to this school! You will come to despise it as much as I do!

Question
The academic standards at Ohio Wesleyan are quiteSuper BrilliantMath
The academic standards at Ohio Wesleyan are quite high and the faculty in most departments are first-rate. I am tempted to comment on what another student here said (even if I am not supposed to) because there is only one department where the standards are low and it is the Physical Education. If anyone is unhappy at Ohio Wesleyan it is because he/she made the wrong choice about a school in the first place. Ohio Wesleyan's are the sciences, the size, its international diversity, its strong commitment to liberal arts and foremost its prestige as an outstanding liberal arts college. Some of my friends last year went on to some of the best schools in the countries, including Harvard, Chicago, Columbia, and UC Berkeley.
