Positive Negative Neutral Advice
The advising sucks.BrightNutrition
The advising sucks. They dont tell you ANYTHING you need to know in order to graduate on time unless you ask them VERY SPECIFIC questions. Does very little to prepare student for the future or the "real world"

housing is horrible. All seniors and most juniors get kicked out of housing so your forced to pay rent for 12 months to insanely jaded and incompetent landlords and private apartments. So you have to pay ridiculous rates year round even if you live out of state and are only here for 8 months unlike other schools that provide university run off-campus housing services

Faculty is horrible. Treats you like a number. Never respond to emails adequately and completly ignores you once evaluations have been submitted. Too many adjucts.

Social life is alright. A lot of parties and such. Good if your into that kind of stuff.
One good thing that I got out of all this is that this school forces you to become a lot more indpendent since you'll find that no one will be helping you with ANYTHING, youll be left in the dark most of the time and you forced to figure things out on your own A LOT. In conclusion, this schools goal really is to maintain busy curriculums especially for science majors with very little grounds for why you have so much work to distract the students from their poor advising and faculty. UMCP REALLY REALLY REALLY just wants to make as much money as possible. Once youre in, the only attention you'll be getting is the invoices

Question
Students are apathetic toward national and campus politics,Quite BrightOther
Students are apathetic toward national and campus politics, and the world and life in general. Students are extremely friendly - for the first month your fall semester freshman year. Once that time has past, you'll rarely be able to make a new friend; most students unconquerable superiority complexes and are too good for you. If not for the university, College Park would be a slum. Violent crime occurs in CP and on campus. Both CP and campus are ugly and in disrepair. There are technically several bars in town, but most are patroned by local scum, thus, for practical purposes, there are only 4 bars in town, only 2 of which you will consciously elect to attend once you are actually 21. Despite your best intentions, you will rarely make use of Baltimore or DC for academic, social, or any other purpose - believe me, it just doesn't happen. UM athletics are awesome, except for the two most important, football and men's basketball, which are perennially disappointing. The administration is 100% concerned with image and marketability, and 0 % concerned with the actual running of the university, funding and improving the quality of education. They are also 100% despotic when it comes to their 'big brother' student life policies (they expect you to be as good and perfect as Wally Cleaver and if you are not they will actively search for a way to discipline you). The one strength of the university is academics (though how strong depends on your major). The school has no funding and, if you keep-up with your U.S. News & World Report, you know that the university has actually fallen in the past several years.

Question
Look into a more prestigious school.Business - Management and Administration
Look into a more prestigious school. Although this wasn't a bad program, the name brand doesn't go far as other programs. Also, be warned of unethical behavoir with other students. I felt constantly mistreated being of a minority background. Not sure if it was my minority status or something else, but the grading without a doubt was not fair. If you go to this program, go to learn, not for the grades. Also, if you're judging students here, don't use grades as an indicator of capabilities. Not an accurate indicator.
